Adopt a School joins LFC foundation & His church charity for a social action project during half term

During February half-term, our North West Adopt a School chef, James Holden, worked with 11 young people from Liverpool FC Foundation’s Premiere League Kicks programme to prepare 180 portions (60 each) of ‘chicken a la king’ with rice, venison cottage pie and vegan macaroni cheese, with food donated by His Church Charity, all of which were individually boxed up and then distributed to local charities working with the homeless: The Whitechapel Centre and L30 in Netherton.

Teaching young people cooking is an essential life skill. Partnering with Liverpool FC Foundation gives me added opportunities to do this, and the project of cooking in bulk to make nutritious meals for the homeless centres was an extra special event. Being part of this was a pleasure and to see the youngsters embrace it at the same time developing their cooking skills was a win, win situation.
