The Dorchester Grill hosts annual Adopt a School Fundraising Dinner
Last Tuesday, Academicians, friends, and supporters of Adopt a School were welcomed to an exclusive reception and dinner held at The Dorchester and The Dorchester Grill. Every year, the dinner is held in support and celebration of the Adopt a School Trust, which works with chefs and hospitality professionals across the UK to teach children about food in a holistic sense, encouraging an enthusiasm and interest in healthy eating, cooking, food provenance and sustainability, as well as giving an insight into the hospitality industry. The evening was a fabulous occasion to raise much needed funds for Adopt a School and to celebrate Adopt a School's impact on children across the UK, as the evening was opened by pupils from St George’s Hanover Square CE Primary School which is currently adopted by Phillip Howard from Elystan Street. The children served canapes and performed “Food Glorious Food” to the guests.
This year, Adopt a School was delighted that yet again our guests came up trumps and the evening raised nearly £10,000 for the charity.
Executive Chef Guillauem Katina and his team produced a wonderful three-course dinner for the evening. Firstly, guests were treated to a first course of chicken liver terrine or vegetable terrine, served with quince and pear chutney or basil and cheddar. Guests were then spoilt for choice for their main course, selected from a menu of seared Scottish salmon steak with Béarnaise, smoke beef short rib with maple syrup and sesame glaze, or butternut squash risotto with turnip and chives. The mouth-watering dinner was rounded off with a sumptuous Eton mess with raspberries and vanilla cream.
The evening included a raffle and auction, with prizes including an overnight stay at The Savoy, Dinner at Browns with an overnight stay at l'Oscar, dinner for two at the Cliveden, Prestige and Anolon Cookware, and entry and afternoon tea for four people at Kew Gardens. Adopt a School would like to profusely thank all those who so generously donated prizes to the raffle and auction:
